Transitioning Towards Sustainable and Climate Smart Tourism in MENA

In a region increasingly impacted by climate change, tourism is among the most vulnerable economic sectors. This report examines the physical, economic, and employment impacts of climate change through detailed studies of Egypt, Lebanon, and Morocco. Climate change is gradually degrading the region’s natural and cultural assets, which are key tourist attractions. Tourism activities are concentrated in areas highly vulnerable to climate change, such as beaches, mountains, and urban centers. In many MENA countries, sea level rise and coastal erosion threaten major coastal cities and tourist destinations.

Our team produced the final report for this World Bank technical assistance project in MENA. We conducted desk research, reviewed tourism reports for the three countries, and developed an initial report for virtual review. After completing the review process, we finalized the report, delivering a high-quality PDF with infographics and compelling visuals to convey our findings.
